The Department of Physics of the University of Crete organises each year a one year intensive Master's Degree Program in 'Advanced Physics'.
The curriculum is a combination of advanced general physics courses, and a number of elective courses from a wide spectrum of modern physics reflecting the interests and activities in the Department. The curriculum includes an original research thesis project, which is an integral part of the program.
The experimental or theoretical Master's thesis project is carried out under the supervision of a faculty member or researcher of the Department, in a modern cutting-edge research area. The general scientific areas covered by the program are Astrophysics and Space Physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Condensed Matter Physics and Theoretical High Energy Physics.
The state-of-the-art facilities of the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser at the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) and Skinakas Observatory are available for the implementation of the research project.
